    Organization: Art Access Gallery
    City: Salt Lake City

    Description:

POTS au NATURALE taught by Eruera “Ed” Napia

Saturday, May 31st, 9a-5p at Art Access Gallery - 230 South 500 West #125, Salt Lake City

In this workshop, "Pots in the Natural" refers to both building technique and firing results. We will handbuild pots using the coil and pinch method of pottery construction. We’ll then wet burnish our pots and apply surface decoration. No glazes or stains will be used. Instead, our pots will be high fired once using a reduction firing giving the clay a warm brown color. Eruera “Ed” Napia, is a member of the Ngapuhi Tribe from the Aotearoa-New Zealand. He has taken the technique of basic handbuilt ceramics to a new level by turning his pinch and coil pots into sculptural pieces through deep surface carving and negative space designs.
