Strauss earned a reputation for egotism with his tone poem Ein Heldenleben the title of which translates to 'A Hero's Life.' The piece is a richly autobiographical of the composer's life and travails. Though Strauss never claimed the 'hero' to be himself; there is little doubt of his intention. Come listen and decide if you think him worthy of the title.
