Add Review/CommentIn her first book, Trespass: Living at the Edge of the Promised Land, Irvine records her difficult five years in Monticello, Utah, where she retreated after a personal tragedy and served as development director for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA). It was a peculiar place to choose for a 'leftist intellectual and apostate Mormon.' Indeed, Irvine was a fish out of water in a county where the majority of the population viewed environmentalist thinking as threatening. Stories of her personal strife are interlaced with those of her environmental activism. Trespass has earned high praise from Western writers Terry Tempest Williams, Rick Bass, and Craig Childs, as well as from actor/conservationist, Robert Redford. Event Location: Gore Auditorium, Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business
