Add Review/CommentMusic Director Keith Lockhart leads pianist Horacio Gutiérrez and the Utah Symphony in Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 for the final concert of the Music Exposed series. Designed for first-time patrons, the program on April 17, 2008 will feature Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 as the sole piece on the program performed by one of the world's foremost pianists, Horacio Gutiérrez. Among the most grandiose and majestic concerti ever written, Brahms's Piano Concerto could be described as a grand symphony with piano accompaniment. As one of his most famous pieces, the concerto features powerful and dramatic themes. The concert will mark Keith Lockhart's first Music Exposed performance since the series began. Patrons will have the chance to get to know the music a little better as Lockhart and Gutiérrez share their insights and discuss the challenges of presenting such a powerful piece. This engaging after-work program features an earlier start time, a shorter performance, cheaper tickets and a more intimate feel than traditional classical performances. In past seasons, Mr. Gutierrez has given recitals at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Berlin's Philharmonie, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, New York's Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, as well as in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Cleveland. Last season he performed on subscription and on tour with the Cleveland Orchestra, and returned for his bi-annual concerts with the San Francisco Symphony among many other orchestras. During the 2007-2008 season, in addition to several recitals, he opened the seasons of the Dallas Symphony and the Oregon Symphony and also performs with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony. Program: Johannes Brahms: Concerto No. 1 for Piano in D minor, Op. 15 Maestoso Adagio Rondo: Allegro non troppo
