Weber State University Department of Performing Arts presents the New American Philharmonic, conducted by David Van Alstyne.  The program includes Franz & Karl Doppler's "Hungarian Fantasy, Op.35;" Georges Bizet's "Carmen Suite No.1 and 2;" Franz von Suppe's "Light Cavalry Overture;" and Gioachino Rossini's "William Tell Overture."

In keeping with the tradition of the family duet team, the performance of the "Hungarian Fantasy" will be by the mother/daughter team of Lorinda Atwater and Susan Atwater Ashdown. Lorinda is the principal flutist of the New American Philharmonic and has played with the group since its inception almost 20 years ago. She graduated from Brigham Young University in flute performance. Susan toured Europe with the Utah Ambassadors of Music in 2003. She is a graduate of the University of Utah with a degree in exercise science. She performed with their flute choir, Runnin' flUTES. Both Lorinda and Susan studied flute with Susan Goodfellow.
