Snowbird Bluegrass Camp for Kids

Part of Snowbird's Mountain Music Festival, this three-day bluegrass and folk music program for 35 children and youth ages 5-18 takes place July 8-10 from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. To ensure the bestpossible experience for the young participants, the Snowbird Renaissance Center has enlisted members of the band Bearfoot. Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Bearfoot has taught thousands of kids worldwide.

Through an advance registration process, children and youth pick from a wide range of classes: all levels of guitar, bass, banjo, fiddle and vocals. Campers are also involved in a band class with their peers, daily jams, square dances, art projects, opportunities for private lessons and games, as well as an end of camp concert for their friends and family. Campers do not need to have any previous instruction, as Snowbird Bluegrass Camps for Kids teaches beginners up to advanced levels. Snowbird Bluegrass Camps for Kids also utilizes a camp songbook that includes many traditional bluegrass and folk songs, written music, chord sheets, recommendations for practicing and additional resources to encourage further study.
