If you¹ve ever wondered how a painter of miniatures creates postage-stamp sized realistic paintings, or how an artist makes paint on paper look like fur on an animal, Art at the Main¹s member artists will show you how it¹s done. On Saturdays, from 1 - 3 p.m. in June and July, artists will demonstrate a variety of "secret" tricks and techniques just outside Art at the Main's doors in the Urban Room of the Salt Lake City Main Library. The demonstrations are free to the public and no reservations are necessary.

    Here's the demonstration schedule:
June 6 - John Stout will paint miniature watercolors with beauty and detail in each tiny painting.
June 13 - Joy Nunn and Nancy Swanson will demonstrate monotypes, a simple, water-based printing technique for one-of-a-kind works of art.
June 20 - Caryn Feeney will show how she captures the texture and personalities of animals in her watercolor paintings.
July 11 - Sue Martin will demonstrate how to use a multi-layered underpainting to add depth, texture and dimension to mixed water media paintings.
July 18 - Cary Griffiths will show his approach to abstract expressionism through drip paintings.
July 25 - William James will demonstrate simple paper maché techniques that go way beyond grade school.
