Utah residents will have the opportunity to share in the excitement of the 2009 summer season at Utah Shakespearean Festival with a special “Secret Garden” book club promotion. Local residents are encouraged to read the novel in preparation for attending public book club meetings and the summer musical production of “The Secret Garden.” Book club meetings conducted by Festival Founder Fred C. Adams will be held at public libraries in Salt Lake City, Cedar City, and St. George.

The Cedar City Public Library (303 N 100 E.) will host a meeting on June 16 at 7 p.m. Another meeting will be held on June 22 at the Tessman Auditorium in the Salt Lake City Library (210 E. 400 S.) at 7 p.m. The St. George meeting will be on June 25 at the St. George Library of the Washington County Library System (50 S. Main St.) at 6 p.m. All meetings are free and open to the public.  A special children’s book club meeting will be conducted by Festival education director, Michael Bahr, at the Cedar City Public Library on June 11 at 10 a.m.

To enrich the experience, book club members can attend a performance of “The Secret Garden” together. For group rates, call the Festival Ticket Office at 800-PLAYTIX.

Information about the book club promotion can be found at www.bard.org or by calling 435-586-7880.
