VISIT BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE BRAITHWAITE FINE ARTS GALLERY

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, UT) Get a special sneak peek into the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery during the “Behind the Scenes” evening on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Hosted by The Friends of the Gallery, the event is open to the public, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Reece Summers, Gallery director, will open the doors to the collection and conservation room and explain how a museum collects and preserves works of art and will provide a preview of the Jim Jones: Recent Paintings exhibit coming in October. Since the Gallery typically exhibits only a very small portion of its collection, guests will also have the opportunity to browse through the Gallery’s database of more than 800 works of art.

Karen Gale, the Gallery’s Education Director, will be on hand to talk about the upcoming educational programming. Visitors will be able to experience the exhibit as a child would during a typical school field trip and hear about how lesson plans and projects relate to upcoming exhibits.

RSVP for the event is preferred by not required. Call (435) 865-8561 by September 11 to RSVP. The Friends of the Braithwaite Gallery directly supports world-class exhibitions and outstanding education programming. The Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery will host over 100 public school groups and 10,000 community members to enjoy the free exhibits as a result of the support of the Friends of the Gallery.
