Westminster College is pleased to present a free screening of “The Wild Bunch” on Nov. 2, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Tower Theatre as part of the Westminster Ivory Tower film studies program.

Set in the year 1913 on the Texas-Mexico border, “The Wild Bunch” (1969) is a Western film about an aging gang of outlaws trying to survive. The gang members engage in dangerous, violent and often crude acts to make money and ensure their survival. The nature of the characters and the plot earned the film a somewhat controversial image, but “The Wild Bunch” was still nominated for Academy Awards for “Best Screen-Play” and “Best Original Score.” The film is famous for its multi-dimensional angles and editing, as well as its pioneering use of slow-motion images.

In partnership with the Salt Lake Film Society, the screening of “The Wild Bunch” is part of a series of film screenings that will appear at the Tower Theatre throughout the school year.

All Ivory Tower film screenings are free and open to the public and will be shown on 35 mm prints. For more information, contact Sean Desilets at sdesilets@westminstercollege.edu.
