    Bountiful/Davis Art Center is now offering several new classes & workshops, offering something for everyone, and encouraging learning a new skill as well as developing existing talents.  Classes for children and youth include:

    Winter Watercolor taught by Marco Smouse, Tuesday, Jan. 13 & Thursday, Jan. 15, 4-5 PM, From snow covered mountains to a frosty pine tree, use watercolor to appreciate nature’s beauty. This 2 day workshop will cover new watercolor techniques and build on skills students may already have. Be sure to register early to ensure a space with this very popular BDAC teacher. $35 + $10 material fee.

    Painting n’ Stuff taught by Sarah Bigelow, JANUARY 13 - FEBRUARY 17, 4:00 - 5:00 PM:  Learn to bring an ordinary piece of paper to life by exploring different color media and the art of applying it to paper. This highly qualified artist will cover a variety of techniques with the use of acrylic, tempera guache, and oil pastels, just to name a few. This class will open students’ eyes to the possibilties of color! $65 + $10 material fee.

    Drawing Basics for Kids taught by Sarah Bigelow, JANUARY 14 - FEBRUARY 18, 4 - 5 PM:  Students will learn basic drawing skills in a creative environment as this very talented, not to mention FUN, teacher brings the art of drawing to life right before their eyes. Kids will never look at their pencil and paper in the same way again! $65.

    Watercolor for Kids taught by Nate Parét, JANUARY 14 - FEBRUARY 18, 5 - 6 PM:  Taught by one of BDAC’s finest teachers, students will learn the basics of watercolor or build on the skills they already have. A variety of techniques will be explored as this fine artist leads students in the discovery of this classic art form. $65 + $10 material fee.

    Learn About the Masters taught by Theresa Otteson, JANUARY 15 – FEB. 19, 4 - 5 PM:  From Degas to Van Gogh, this fun class introduces art history to students through hands on art projects. Each week students will gain an insight on the life and times of great artists of the past while creating artwork using concepts used by these masters of art. Projects include making paint like Giotto, painting impasto like Van Gogh, and creating cubist work like Picasso. $65.

    Making Color taught by Theresa Otteson, JANUARY 15 - FEBRUARY 19, 4:00 - 5:00 PM:  Have you ever wanted to learn how to make color? What does the word pigment mean to you? This very talented artist will guide students in the discovery of paint making. Each week children will learn more about this exciting science by creating and exploring a new pigment with household products, hands on. (All products used are kid safe.), $65 + $5 material fee.

    Sculpture Merit Badge taught by Mike Call, JANUARY 17 - 31 OR FEBRUARY 7 – 21, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, TUITION: $40 + $5 SUPPLY FEE (3 WEEKS):  Designed to meet merit badge requirements for Scouts aged 11 - 18. Students will sculpt a life sized portrait in clay, try plaster casting, and create a small animal figurine.
