Conductor and composer Marvin Hamlisch will lead the Utah Symphony in a program of his favorite Pops at Abravanel Hall on Friday, October 17th and Saturday, October 18th at 8:00pm. One of only two people to ever win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, a Tony and a Pulitzer Prize, Hamlisch will lead the orchestra in a performance of his most beloved selections from film and Broadway, which he will announce from the stage. Notable for his great versatility as well as substance, Marvin Hamlisch has won virtually every major award that exists: three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globe awards; his groundbreaking show, A Chorus Line, received the Pulitzer Prize. He has composed more than forty motion picture scores including his Oscar-winning score and song for The Way We Were and his adaptation of Scott Joplin's music for The Sting, for which he received a third Oscar. His prolific output of scores for films includes original compositions and/or musical adaptations for Sophie's Choice, Ordinary People, Three Men and a Baby and Ice Castles.
