The charming con-man, Professor Harold Hill, enters River City Iowa with every intention of defrauding the townspeople by starting a boys' band. The excitement of the idea of a River City Boys' Band quickly blinds the townsfolk and Professor Harold Hill, of course, is just the man with the band instruments, uniforms and music lessons to make it all happen-all without knowing a single note of music! The straight-laced Marion Paroo, River City's librarian and piano teacher-is skeptical of the fast talking Professor Hill, but it doesn't take long for the two to find themselves on the verge of a mismatched love affair!
