Art at the Main will feature the whimsical paintings of member artist Joan Zone. Zone's work clearly shows the fun she has as a painter, layering beautiful transparent acrylic paint in washes, then finding her subjects, which often emerge as red cows, blue rabbits, or oversized birds. 'As a viewer and an artist, I find art with whimsy fun, creative and totally engaging,' says Zone, who resides in Salt Lake City. 'It is my hope to go beyond the image itself and create a dynamic between the viewer and the art. Being very much influenced by my environment, I try to paint the same scenes that capture me emotionally, whether it's a pink sheep, a snow covered field or a romantic European street or countryside.'
