Pioneer Theatre Company is pleased to present the most famous love story ever written, Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. This is the immortal story that has a little something for everyone - swashbuckling swordfights, mystery, and of course passion and romance between the star-crossed lovers.

      The first ten minutes felt like a good high school production, definitely not a professional offering by experienced Shakespearean actors. I kept expecting it to get better, which it did, but not... Expand

      The first ten minutes felt like a good high school production, definitely not a professional offering by experienced Shakespearean actors. I kept expecting it to get better, which it did, but not enough. If my husband and I had actually asked each other "What do you think?" during the intermission, we would have gone home early! He asked me at the end, "Aren't you supposed to feel some emotion in this play?" Compared with the rest of the season, the set and costumes were also a disappointment. We came home feeling like the whole production was done "on the cheap". Too bad, it's hard to miss when you've got great material, but this time PMT managed. Collapse

      This play in general was great, however I was dissapointed with the way that the parts of Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence, and the Prince of Verona were played. After having just reread the play those... Expand

      This play in general was great, however I was dissapointed with the way that the parts of Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence, and the Prince of Verona were played. After having just reread the play those specified characters did not seem to understand the parts as Shakespeare portrayed them. There were times where Romeo and Juliet acted too mature and times where they acted completely immature, but there was no middle ground for me. I was extremely impreessed and in love with the characters of Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, Capulet, Lady Capulet, and the Nurse. The way they portrayed the characters exactly showed the characters for who they were, and enthalled you while doing so. Their performance was exquisite. The set was absolutely innovative and beautiful. Collapse
