During the Utah Arts Festival, Cartoonists Across America founder Phil Yeh will be appearing at Night Flight Comics (see www.night-flight.com), and will conduct two workshops for children at the Main Library. Since 1986, the award-winning graphic novelist and literacy activist has crisscrossed the globe using artwork and humor to promote literacy through creativity and art. With the aid of students from schools and libraries, Cartoonists Across America (www.ideaship.com) has painted more than 1600 murals. Yeh is featured in the 2007 book Hometown Heroes: Real Stories of Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things All Across America. Yeh reads from his comic books The Winged Tiger and Dinosaurs Across America, and chares ideas with kids and parents on how to tell stories through words and pictures.
