Summer Concerts: Utah Symphony Benefits The Road Home
August 20, 2008
Add Review/CommentUtah Symphony's Patriotic Celebration featuring pieces by Gould, Williams, Gershwin and Sousa will be held in Taylorsville on Monday, June 30th and West Valley City on Tuesday, July 1st. A performance featuring marches by Sousa and Strauss will be held at Abravanel Hall on Wednesday, July 9th, in Sandy on Wednesday, July 16th and again at Abravanel Hall on Wednesday, August 20th. Each program will be lead by Utah Symphony's Assistant Conductor, David Cho. The concert, part of a series of free performances held to thank communities for supporting the Salt Lake County Zoo Arts and Parks Fund (ZAP) will raise donations and create awareness about homelessness. Shortly before the concert begins, Fendall's Ice Cream will be on-site selling ice cream on the plaza with all proceeds going directly to The Road Home. The concert will be free to attend and employees and volunteers from The Road Home will be at Abravanel Hall giving out information, answering questions and accepting donations. 100% of contributions will go to The Road Home). A first time partnership between both non-profit organizations, the Utah Symphony supports The Road Home's mission of helping people step out of homelessness and back into the community.
