Ririe-Woodbury commemorates its 45th Anniversary with Tower, a newly reconstructed work by theatre wizard Alwin Nikolais. This brilliant multi-media dance, created in 1965, uses architectural elements to form a microcosm of society and is notable for the incessant, often hilarious verbal commentary by the dancers. Said to be an indictment of the American babble, Tower is fast, funny and evocative. At the end of this fast-talking piece, humankind comes off as both the victor and the victim of his environment as this Tower of Babble comes crashing down. The evening includes Nikolais favorites Tensile Involvement, Crucible, and the regional premiere of Liturgies. The Company's historic partnership with the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance is garnering rave reviews throughout the USA and Europe. The New York Times numbered its performances of Nikolais works as one of the 10 best events of the year. Special Opening Night Offer: On opening night, September 25, Middle and High School students get in for just $5 with a student ID.
