Art at the Main will feature the work of Salt Lake pastel artist Diana Stover with an artist's reception during Gallery Stroll on August 15th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Titled Places to Go, People to See, this exhibit is Stover's visual travelogue of England, Kentucky, Grand Canyon and other destinations she has visited in the past few years. A realist inspired by the people and places she sees in her travels, Stover brings drama, depth and texture to her paintings through the loose, painterly, and unrestrained application of her pastels. 'I choose to work primarily in pastels because I love the immediacy of them,' says Stover. 'I also love having so many beautiful colors right at my fingertips without having to mix them.' Working in plein air or from candid photographs, Stover takes great satisfaction in interpreting landscapes and ³people scenes² in a way that brings joy to viewers.
