    Helen Keith Beaman is Utah State Poetry Society's 2008 Poet of the Year. She attended the University of Utah on an early admissions scholarship sponsored by the Ford Foundation, then went on to complete her BA and MA in dance from Brigham Young University. Beaman began writing poetry seriously about 15 years ago, encouraged and mentored by her brother-in-law, Max Golightly.
