18th Annual Halloween Concert

The evening's performance, directed by Larry West (Mozart Alive!), will feature excerpts from the third act of Hansel and Gretel featuring four of Utah Opera's apprentices (Chanel Wood, Gretchen Windt, Dominick Chenes and Brent Turner) and two vocalists from the University of Utah (Cicily Ellis and Blair Ball). The whole family will enjoy watching as Hansel and Gretel try to escape from an evil witch who cooks and eats children after she lures them to her home made of gingerbread. The annual Costume Contest, which has become known for its great prizes and outrageous costumes, will be held in the lobby before the concert from 5:30 -6:15 pm (all contestants must be in line by 6:15 pm in order to be judged for the contest). Grant Nielsen and Amanda Dickson from KSL Newsradio will judge the contest and choose three finalists from adult, child and group categories to appear onstage during the concert to the be ranked by the audience.
