Laurel Leff is the author of Buried by The Times: The Holocaust and America's Most Important Newspaper. The New York Times' failure to cover the Holocaust and the fate of millions of European Jews from 1939 to 1945 effectively kept the worsening tragedy from readers in New York and across the U.S. Laurel Leff and two panelists will explore this and discuss how the media manage crises, and thus public memory of them. Buried by The Times was acknowledged as the Best Media History Book in 2006 by the American Journalism Historians Association. In 2005, it was awarded Book of the Year in the History Division by ForeWord Magazine.
