Author of The Coming Storm: Extreme Weather and Our Terrifying Future

To write The Coming Storm, Bob Reiss traveled the world, talking to scientists researching global warming, the politicians fighting to do something or stop political action on it, and also to victims of the extreme weather that has marked the last decade, from a college student killed in Nashville, to a president in the Indian Ocean watching his capitol go underwater, to the Cook County coroner handling 750 dead during a recent heat wave. Their individual stories woven over a twelve-year period make up the book. The Coming Storm tells the history of global warming through personal perspectives, and suggests solutions. Reiss is the author of several acclaimed novels and works of non-fiction. Two chapters of his book The Road to Extrema, about travels in the Amazon witnessing massive rainforest destruction, were finalists for the National Magazine Award. His latest novel is Black Monday, a thriller about the destruction of the world's oil supply.
