Elementary school children from all over the Salt Lake Valley join together for a service project that includes such pioneering skills as white washing fences, pulling weeds, and planting flowers. Work becomes fun as today's children emulate what pioneer kids did decades ago. Schools who wish to participate in 2010 should contact the Pioneer Kids chair, Joyce Ellertson, as early as possible. The event is hosted by This Is The Place Heritage Park and is a marvelous opportunity for school children to visit the Park, ride the new miniature trains and get a taste of pioneering -- all in one morning.
