A new late night cabaret is about to take Salt Lake City by storm. 'Cast Party SLC' is a unique, cabaret-style musical show featuring loads of local theatre talent singing everything from Broadway showtune favorites to sassy, tongue-in-cheek gems. Starting April 4th at 10:30 P.M. in the Chapel Theatre at Salt Lake Acting Company and continuing its inaugural run for four weeks during the run of END DAYS, Cast Party SLC offers local theatre artists a performer-friendly venue to show off their talents, as well as a hotspot for the refined crowd who may enjoy a little culture in their nightlife. Cast Party SLC is the brainchild of Kevin Christensen, a local musician, and Jacob Johnson, a local actor. Though they both were inspired by different cabarets on separate coasts, Kevin on the East, Jacob in the West, both saw the need for a cabaret show in a city without one. 'A cabaret is unique in that it is improvised to a certain point, but also maintains a certain focus on quality and mood, as well,' said Johnson. 'Salt Lake City is well-known for its incredible pool of theatre and musical talent and Cast Party SLC will utilize that talent to create a dazzling musical event not to be missed.' Christensen echoed Johnson's sentiments. 'The desire for a cabaret or similar musical show to fill in Salt Lake City is palpable. Cast Party SLC will fulfill that desire,' he said. 'Singers and theatre performers pine for a non-karaoke venue that will allow them to do what they do best with live musicians and a rapt audience, not a low quality minus track and poor lighting. Performing arts consumers will find a delightful, classy venue where they can unwind and listen to great singers do their stuff. Cast Party SLC is an idea whose time has come.'
