Weber State University Department of the Performing Arts and the Union Station Foundation present Jazz at the Station with Viktor Uzur, Zoltan Vegvari and Friends. Uzur is a faculty member in the department, where he teaches cello in addition to other music classes. However, he is known for his continuous search for diverse genres and styles of music to add to his repertoire. This will be his first venture into the jazz scene. Usually performing classical music, Uzur has this to say about branching out into jazz, 'A strong Jazz scene in Ogden is essential for the culture and musical life in the area. Classical music is being more and more merged and mixed with jazz and other genres. Whether it is blues, jazz, funk or classical music, it is the interaction of diverse musicians with different ideas improvising and playing together, that brings unexpected excitement to the audiences.' Zoltan Vegvari teaches a 'jazz improvisation' class at Weber State. Zoltan has made a name for himself in Ogden during the last two years and has acquired a big fan base because of his electrifying performances on the keyboard. Also joining the line-up is Nathan O'Bryant, bass; and Don Keipp, drums. Additional surprise performances will contribute their talent to the evening. Jazz at the Station provides an all-ages venue for jazz fans and students. Well behaved children are welcome to attend as long as they do not disturb the performers or members of the audience.
