Bruch's First Concerto is adored for its second movement's intense, Romantic melody. Following the concerto is Elgar's Symphony No. 2, allegedly inspired by Beethoven's Eroica Symphony. Elgar wrote that the piece "represents 'the passionate pilgrimage' of a soul," and dedicated it to the memory of King Edward VII.
