The Pioneers of Progress Awards recognize service and achievement in modern-day pioneering. These awards honor those who continue Utah's rich pioneer heritage of vision, industry, integrity, sacrifice, spirit and courage, and whose work benefits present and future generations. The 2010 awards will be presented to James L. MacFarlane in the Business and Enterprise category; Michael V. Jacobsen in Sportsmanship and Athletics; Brigadier General Amos Jordan in Education, Health and Humanitarian Assistance; Dr. Kathy Sorenson in Historic & Creative Arts; Fred Lampropoulos in Scientific and Technology Development; the Legacy Award will honor Gail Miller and her late husband Larry Miller and the President's Award, a newly established award presented to Dr. Jeff Randle, chairman for Healing Hands for Haiti.
