The Snowbird Renaissance Center is very excited to announce a new three day bluegrass and folk music program for 35 children and youth ages 5-17. To ensure the best possible experience for the young participants, SRC will enlist members of the band Bearfoot. Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Bearfoot has taught thousands of kids worldwide, including over 20 locations in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland. Through an advance registration process, children and youth pick from a wide range of classes, including all levels of guitar, bass, banjo, fiddle, and vocals. Campers are also involved in a band class with their peers, daily jams, square dances, art projects, opportunities for private lessons, and games, as well as an end of camp concert for their friends and family. Campers do not need to have any previous instruction, as Bluegrass Camps for Kids teaches beginners up to advanced levels. Bluegrass Camps for Kids also utilizes a camp songbook that includes many traditional bluegrass and folk songs, written music, chord sheets, recommendations for practicing and additional resources to encourage further study. The culmination of the camp is the Kids Bluegrass Camp Concert where each band performs for families, friends, and summer visitors at the resort. This will be Friday, July 10th at 3:30 p.m. Scholarships are available based on need.
