The Peace Flag Project is a community collaboration designed to unify and inspire the people of the Salt Lake Valley to express their aspirations for a more peaceful world. Built in a Tibetan tradition, the Peace Flags bear age-old symbols and mantras that, along with community's aspirations, are carried on the wind throughout the valley and throughout the world. The community flags all bear the Om, which is a tantric letter that is most simply translated to mean 'it is.' Various community groups were given only the instruction to set their best intentions out to the world on the flags. Participants include: Urgyen Samten Ling Buddhist Temple, The Jewish Community Center, The Boys and Girls Club and The First Unitarian Church.
