    Bountiful/Davis Summerfest International (BDSI) is a program of the Bountiful/Davis Art Center and was started as an art festival in 1974. The distinctive program of international performances was added in 1988. The roots of the festival are grounded in the arts and it remains a showcase for artists. The international and cultural performances were included to give local residents a unique entertainment and educational experience that stands out as an exciting addition to the community and is unequaled by any other art and cultural program in the state. 2009 Schedule of Events August 6 4:30pm-10:00pm - At Bountiful/Davis Summerfest International enjoy fine art booths, craft booths, food vendors all to the background of international music and dance. 5:00pm - Mayor's Reception and VIP Reception (by invitation only). Bountiful's Mayor will welcome the participating international groups with a gift and will be presented with a gift from each participating country in return (gift exchange). A letter of greeting is read from Utah's Governor or other official representative to welcome participating countries. Sponsors, local politicians and delegates as well as host families will attend by invitation only. 6:30pm - Opening Ceremonies (public is invited to attend) - International performing groups will be welcomed publicly and will give short performances from each country. August 7 10:00am-10:00pm - Bountiful/Davis Summerfest International - fine art booths, craft booths, food vendors all to the background of international music and dance. The Children's Art Stations open until sundown with all proceeds from the children's art stations go to benefit the Bountiful/Davis Art Center's education programs. August 8 8:00am-9:30am - Chuckwagon breakfast with proceeds going to benefit Bountiful/Davis Education Programs. 10:00am-10:00pm - Bountiful/Davis Summerfest International - fine art booths, craft booths, food vendors all to the background of international music and dance. The Children's Art Stations open until sundown with all proceeds from the children's art stations go to benefit the Bountiful/Davis Art Center's education programs. 9:30pm-10pm - Closing Ceremonies- countries will say goodbye with a finale from all participating countries. In addition to all of these festivities, there will be an exhibit running at Bountiful/Davis Art Center from July 31-August 28 featuring Lester Lee with Brandi Bixler, who are this year's summerfest featured and emerging artists, Fidalis Beuhler, Lewis Chidziva and Artists in Action participants. Lester Lee is a well known Utah artist who teaches at Woods Cross High School, Brandi Bixler is a student of Lester's who has down syndrome and has an amazing gift for understanding color. This unique pair has collaborated on a number of paintings that will be on display during this exhibit, with a majority of the proceeds from sales going to The Special Olympics, Brandi's charity of choice.
