July 1 - Join the nature center for a special Independence Day program for a chance to learn about bald eagles and why they are United States's national symbol with the help of the Ogden Nature Center's own bald eagle, Des Ta Te. Then go outside and search for things in nature that are red, white and blue. You'll be amazed at what you can find! Meet in the Visitor's Center. July 8 - Get up close and personal with Einstein, the resident American White Pelican (whose beak can hold more than his belly can). Learn about the special adaptations that shorebirds have. Discuss the importance of the Great Salt Lake and learn about the different shorebirds that call Utah home. Meet in the Visitor's Center. July 15 - Have you ever wondered what a snake feels like? What about a tortoise shell? Come find out and get an up close look at the Ogden Nature Center's resident reptiles. Learn what makes reptiles so special in the animal world while meeting Laser and Rex, the threatened desert tortoises and Bert, the Great Basin Gopher Snake. Meet in the Visitor's Center. July 22 - Join the nature center in celebrating Utah's unique history. Travel back in time with one of the naturalists as stories and folktales are shared from the past. Then take a short hike and learn about Utah's special geologic history. Meet in the Visitor's Center. July 29 - Did you know that there are eight endangered or threatened species of fish that call Utah home? Spend an hour with a naturalist and learn other cool facts about Utah's diverse fish. Observe Least Chub in the aquarium and meet some of the resident fish eating birds. Meet in the Visitor's Center.
