All American - Defining Ourselves in a Time of Change
July 1-October 31, 2009
Add Review/CommentJust in time for Independence Day, the Salt Lake Art Center will open a new exhibition: All American: Defining Outselves in a Time of Change. National identity is complex and difficult to characterize. Shared heritage, beliefs and daily rituals all define a common culture. 'As American as apple Pie.' 'An All American family.' All American values.' What do these phrases mean? All American: Defining Ourselves in a Time of Change features 13 contemporary artists working in a variety of media, whose work raises questions about the traditions and history exploring what it means to be an American. On August 21, there will be a special night the artists himself Brad Slaugh, where he will share his creative process and insights into his works.
