The Musical, which follows the 1980's hit movie and the television series which followed, focuses on the last class to graduate from New York's High School of performing Arts on 46th Street before the school relocated to Lincoln Center. Fame The Musical, with a book by Jose Fernandez, and a score by composer Steven Margoshes and lyricist Jacques Levy, tells an insightful and exciting story about the passions and dedication shared by a group of young people with exceptional artistic gifts. We learn about the temptations facing these aspiring dancers, actors, and musicians, their need for values, and the importance of discipline in their lives as they confront issues ranging from illiteracy and drug abuse to racial strife. In keeping with the show's melting pot mix of rich, poor, black, white, and Latino teens, the Egyptian's Family Theatre production has a multi-ethnic cast from Park City, Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. This exceptionally talented cast includes 4 adults and 16 energy-packed young actors who will entertain audiences with their amazing voices, incredible dancing, passionate acting and high-flying gymnastics.
