The educational events will conclude with a concert featuring two string quartets (who are currently participating the in the three-week Emerging Quartet intensive training program) at the Eccles Theater in Park City. The Emerging Quartet clinic consists of three weeks of intensive rehearsals and master classes with professional coaching by the renowned Muir Quartet. During this time, the two semi-professional quartets work on classical repertoire as well as new music by young composers with the composers themselves. The quartets participating this year are Matisse String Quartet, who is centered in Philadelphia at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music and Vinca String Quartet from New York. They will feature world premieres of compositions by Conor Brown and John Boggs, as well as works by Mozart, Bartok and Mendelssohn.
