The biggest gospel music festival west of the Mississippi comes to Little Cottonwood Canyon for the first Snowbird Tent Revival. Presented by the Snowbird Renaissance Center (SRC), the Snowbird Tent Revival features legendary soul, jazz, blues and rock artists alongside full choirs for what promises to be a jamboree, New Orleans Jazz Fest-style celebration of inspirational performances. 'Gospel music is at the heart of America's culture and musical heritage, transcending race and religion,' said SRC General Manager Teri Mumm. 'Snowbird is thrilled to bring such celebrated musicians to Utah for what is sure to be an awe-inspiring, tent-rocking weekend.' August 14 - Five-time Grammy Award winners The Blind Boys of Alabama headline the first night of festivities. The group, which was formed more than seven decades ago, is touring behind their latest release, the critically-acclaimed 'Down in New Orleans.' August 15 - Legendary vocalist Mavis Staples highlights a jam-packed Saturday lineup that includes Mike Farris & the Roseland Rhythm Review and the Calvary Angel Choir. Staples was a member of the seminal soul group the Staple Singers and has recorded with countless musical icons such as Bob Dylan and Ray Charles. August 16 - The festival concludes with the groove-driven, gritty southern sounds of JJ Grey & Mofro. Included in the festivities will be performances from a number of talented choirs as well as a Tent Revival Hat Competition where participants can show off their most fashionable, flowery and flamboyant hats in exchange for prizes. More details about the entire weekend, including a full artist lineup and ticket information, is available at www.snowbirdrc.org.
