Art at the Main will feature new whimsical paintings by Joan B. Zone, with a reception during Gallery Stroll, on September 18 6:00pm-9:00pm. Titled Whimsy Through Art II, the exhibit demonstrates the artist's continuing search for humor in a variety of subjects, including animals, flowers, pastoral or European landscapes. Using watercolor or acrylic paints, Zone layers transparent washes, then watches for her subject to emerge. From the many layers of color, Zone may 'find' a plaid pig or a flying cow. 'Anything goes' is this artist's mantra. Even her landscapes, which are clearly representational, have a loose feel that engages the viewer in a warm, fun, and emotional way.
