The Man Who Planted Trees is about the unique achievement of Elzéard Bouffier, a Provençal shepherd who patiently reforests a barren piece of land. The narrator's fascination with the man and his mission leads him to return time and again to the mountains, where he sees the windswept, forsaken landscape gradually transformed: springs, cultivated fields and thriving villages are regenerated by the incredible forest that is the work of one stubborn and uncommonly selfless man. Event Schedule: 7:00pm - Welcome audience (which may include a short video message from Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker). 7:10pm - Introduction of book and film by Chris Hicks, Desert News Film Columnist. 7:25pm - Presentation of film. 7:55pm - Introduction of keynote speaker, Craig Galli, environmental lawyer with Holland & Hart LLP, and current member of Salt Lake City Land Use Appeals Board. 8:00pm - Speaker presentation (length of presentation may vary and may include questions from audience). 8:30pm - Concluding comments and drawing for free book and DVD of The Man Who Planted Trees.
