Yaodong Hu lives in Shanghai, where he is a painter with Shanghai Baodao, Changhua Art Gallery, and a senior painter at the National Painting and Calligraphy Academy. A book about his work, The Painting Art of Yaodong Hu was published in China in September 2007. Hu's award-winning work has been included in solo and group exhibitions, published in newspapers, and published in Shanghai Bookstore Publication's The Collections of Oriental Art Academy: Calligraphy and Paintings.
