    June 28- July 9 2010

The goal of Summerdance 2010 is to create personal and meaningful contact between the RDT dancers and workshop students to establish a lasting connection that will influence, inform and inspire all involved. Workshop classes will focus on the technical, creative and performance aspects of being a dance artist. All classes will be taught by the RDT company members with small and large group sessions throughout the day.

    Morning
    8:30-9:00 Stretch, Strength, and Core

Students will be guided through specific exercises that focus on strength, alignment, and flexibility of the moving body, based on principles of yoga, pilates and strength training for athletes.

    9:00-10:30 Modern Dance Technique

Intermediate/Advanced Modern Dance Technique will combine principles of contemporary and historic movement techniques. Students will work to improve technical skills, examining their individual strengths and challenges allowing for the emergence and pursuit of new personal goals.

    10:45-12:00 Composition/Improvisation

Time for exploration, creation, discovery, collaboration and communication between students and RDT dancers.

    12:00-1:00 Lunch – Brown Bags

Twice a week happenings featuring sharing of “in-progress” choreographic projects by students and dancers, lectures, etc.

    Afternoon
    1:00-2:20 Performance/Coaching Lab

A class dedicated to the technique of performing. Time will be spent on the development and refinement of modern dance performance technique. Students will learn, in a small group setting, an RDT performer’s role specifically from that dancer, and be guided/coached to achieve the performer’s full potential.

    2:30-3:45 Contemporary Repertory

Students will learn movement phrases from repertory in preparation for RDT’s Fall Season alongside the RDT dancers. Selections will include Zvi Gotheiner’s Glacier and Ford Evan’s Watermark from RDT’s Landscape Suite.

3:45-4:15 Assessment time with RDT Mentor

One on one conversations between RDT dancers and workshop participants assessing the work of the day, sharing thoughts, goals and ideas and preparing for the next day of dance.

    **3:45-4:30 Friday Showcases

An informal sharing of the weeks’ creative work held each Friday afternoon, featuring all workshop participants and RDT dancers.
