Sixteen artists were asked to respond to their country's worst economic meltdown since the Great Depression, with the result being an exhibition that both stuns and challenges the viewer. In a variety of ways the works address the malaise gripping their society, providing the opportunity for contemplation, awakened sensitivity, and personal response. Viewers will be challenged to confront their era's uncertainties and issues, and the result may well be a new recognition of their shared humanity and of the burdens borne by their fellow citizens. Artists in the exhibition are Steven Assael, Garin Baker, Warren Chang, Sean Diediker, Harvey Dinnerstein, Max Ginsburg, Jeffrey Hein, David Jon Kassan, David Linn, Mary Beth McKenzie, Denis Peterson, Mario Andres Robinson, Burton Silverman, Gary Ernest Smith, Trevor Southey and Justin Taylor.
