    Art Access/VSA arts of Utah Announces

    its 10th Annual Art Workshop Series for Adults

    Salt Lake City, Utah March 8, 2010 Art Access/VSA arts of Utah conducts five professionally taught workshops for adults in our gallery each year. This program provides quality arts experiences, facilitated by professional artists, in an inclusive setting. Workshops encourage adults with and without disabilities to join together in developing new art skills and an appreciation for a variety of art mediums.

    2010 Workshops include:

    #1 POP SURRESLIT LANDSCAPE with Jason N. Jones on March 27, 2010 - Participants will blend traditional landscape and drafting techniques with the unexpected and spectacular in this painting workshop;

    #2 FACING UP TO YOURSELF--PORTRAITURE with Sam Wilson on April 3, 2010 - Participants will use the visual language of sighting, triangulation (vector), proportion, and the arrangements of the parts to a whole in the process of creating a self-portrait;

    #3 LAYERED COLLAGE and PHOTOGRAPHY with Justin Wheatley on April 17, 2010 - Participants will build up layers of interesting collage and add an additional element of photography as they learn the techniques and processes that make a collage successful;

    #4 MIXED MEDIA STORY BOXES with Lenka Konopasek on May 1, 2010 - Participants will create a colorful mixed media story box with hidden compartments that reveal his/her inner thoughts, ideas, and experiences;

    and #5 RECYLED PLASTIC RECREATED with Carol Sogard on May 22, 2010 - Participants will use a heat fusing process to recycle and transform plastic garbage bags into a fabric-like material and then explore sewing this recreated fabric to make a variety of items.

    Each all-day Saturday workshop (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) includes art supplies and a boxed- lunch for a $50 fee (which can be reduced or waived based upon need).

    The workshops will be held at the Art Access Gallery, 230 South 500 West, #125 in Salt Lake City.
