Utahns can celebrate The Days of '47 activities by watching or participating in one of the largest youth parades in the United States. In just four blocks, you can see marching bands, creatively decorated floats, performing groups and nearly 5,000 children having a grand time - much to the delight of moms and dads with their ever - clicking cameras. Performing groups clothed in traditional dress will also charm spectators with instrumental, vocal and dance routines from around the globe. This year, The Days of '47 is excited to have the Union Pacific Railroad (UPR) fully functional mini train participate in the Youth Parade. It is gasoline powered and can hold up to 20 passengers and the engineer. A retiree of one of the local Railroad companies did the restoration. It was built in Wichita, Kansas. Parade route begins at 600 East and 500 South, travels west to 200 East and 500 South and ends at the City/County Building (Washington Square) in downtown Salt Lake City.
