Anni Stafford is a contemporary realist who enjoys a diverse range of subject matter, including people, landscapes, and still lifes. She has had the privilege of studying with some of the finest artists in Utah. Among these are Alvin Gittins, V. Douglas Snow, and Paul Davis. Inspired by her everyday surroundings, whether at home or traveling, often her work is painted from life, especially her portraits and still lifes. Many outdoor scenes are painted plein air where she can feel her environment. However, she is often drawn to the freedom her studio gives her. There she combines elements from several of her photographic sources with her imagination and creates a setting she has manipulated into a new reality capturing her feeling for a scene and everyday occurrences that are often taken for granted. While most of her paintings are oil she also paints in watercolor.
