Beethoven
January 16, 2011
Add Review/CommentNOVA will present a program of late-Beethoven chamber music. This concert features works composed both immediately before and after the personal and creative crises experienced by Beethoven during 1812-15. This music displays the elevated majesty found in the music written at the end of Beethoven's heroic period as well as the introspective and concentrated intensity of the late style. Violinist Ralph Matson, cellist John Eckstein, and pianist Jason Hardink will perform the last violin sonata (in G Major, opus 96) and piano trio (in B-flat Major, opus 97, "Archduke") of 1811-12, as well as the final cello sonata (in D Major, opus 102, no.2) of 1815.
