Music Director Sterling Poulson and the Choral Arts Society of Utah invite you to an evening of choral works based on unusual text, poetry and origin. The 100-voice choir will perform at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature music of Copland, Brahms and other well-known composers.

Have you ever wondered why music is written? Was it written to a text, or about a text? Were the lyrics written to fit the music, or the music to fit the lyrics? You may find that some of the world's greatest music was written for the simplest reasons. Narrator and Assistant Conductor of the choir Michael J. Imperiale will guide the audience through the stories behind some great choral selections, including Nanie by Johannes Brahms. We have invited the drama students from Taylorsville High School to narrate a choral work Leaves of Grass based on the works of Walt Whitman.

Now in its 25th year, The Choral Arts Society of Utah Master Chorale's 100-voice mixed choir is based in Salt Lake City. Many of their performances are benefit concerts for schools and organizations providing humanitarian services to local areas.
