Stout is inspired by nature, and his paintings catch the fleeting moments of discovery, when one is struck by the beautyscapes of nature. Whether inhabited by wildlife or not, Stout's landscapes let the viewer imagine the
fish in the water, the deer in the forest, or the sheep just out of view. His work recalls sounds, scents, or the brush of the wind, in settings the viewer will likely recognize.
