Dr. Prudence L. Carter is an associate professor in the School of Education and the Department of Sociology at Stanford University. Author of the award-winning book, Keepin' It Real: School Success Beyond Black and White, Carter explores the intersections of race, gender, culture and academic achievement disparities. Through a sociological lens of schooling, her talk examines the extent to which claims that ours is a post-racial society are reasonable. Relying on recent court cases, educational policies and studies of the social and cultural experiences of Black and Latino students in high schools across the United States.
