For the most part, the best and the brightest aren't going into teaching; and of the people who are choosing that profession, half of them are going to leave teaching in the first three years. That's a problem. That's a problem on a scale that most people in the country don't recognize yet. In this play, they want to help people to consider teaching as a noble, valuable profession. It is for those who think that teaching is easy, and for those who know that it's hard. They want to portray an honest and authentic picture of who teachers are and what they do in a manner that is not heavy-handed, sappy, or pedantic.
