    Dana Levin was raised in California's Mojave Desert; she is the author of Sky Burial, Wedding Day) and In the Surgical Theatre, which won nearly every award available to first books and emerging poets. A teacher of poetry for twenty years, Levin has joined the faculty at Santa Fe University of Art and Design. She has received fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Witter Bynner Foundation, the Library of Congress, the Rona Jaffe Foundation, and the Whiting Foundation. A 2007 Guggenheim Fellow, Levin has most recently has served as the Russo Endowed Chair in Creative Writing at the University of New Mexico.
